Aboriginal Community Donates $93K

Brisbane, 7 December 2010 -The Silver Lining Foundation,an independent not-for-profit organization that provides employment and training opportunities for Indigenous people, received a $93,324 grant from the Agreement Implementation Group of the Cherbourg Aboriginal Community (AIG).

The grant was in support of the Foundation's work in offering employment and training to Indigenous people at its property 14 kilometres from Cherbourg in the South Burnett, 270 kilometres North West of Brisbane.

Executive Office Officer of the AIG, John Carey said "The AIG is proud to be associated with this project and, on behalf of the Committee, would like to congratulate Silver Lining Foundation Ltd t/as Iron Bark Ridge Services on delivering outcomes for the South Burnett Aboriginal Community".

The Foundation used the donation to purchase a second tractor and post hole driver for its rural services work.

CEO of the Foundation, Mike O'Neill said, "We are very grateful for the AIG's donation, and are delighted to be working with the Group."

"The donation enables us to purchase a resource critical to facilitating work opportunities that will help make young Indigenous people in the Cherbourg community work-ready."
