ACICC Donates $44K

Brisbane, October 2006 -The Silver Lining Foundation, an independent not-for-profit organization that supports youth who need a second chance, received a $44,000 grant from the Aboriginal Community Interest Consultative Committee (ACICC).

The grant was in support of the Foundation's work in employing indigenus youth at its property near Wondai, 270 kilometres North West of Brisbane.

Executive Officer of the Committee, Darren Schmidt, said "We at the Committee are proud to be associated with this project and I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the Silver Lining Foundation on delivering outcomes for the South Burnett Aboriginal community through this project."

The Foundation used the donation to purchase a tractor for its rural servcies work.

CEO of the Foundation, Mike O'Neill said, "We are very grateful for the ACICC's donation, and are delighted to be working with the Committe."

"The donation enables us to purchase a resource critical to facilitating work opportunities that will help make young Indigenous people in the Cherbourg community work-ready."
