Outdoor Cultural Experiences

Our Indigenous heritage is one of Australia's great secrets that needs to be truly unlocked and Iron Bark Ridge is in an ideal location to do so for your enjoyment.

Next year, we plan to offer opportunities for schools in South East Queensland to bring students to our recreational facilities to experience outdoor education as well as Indigenous culture.

Our recreational facilities are located in a bushland setting right on Barambah Creek at Ficks Crossing, half way between Murgon and Wondai in the South Burnett (about 270 kilometres north west of Brisbane). At these facilities, we plan to promote indigenous culture by offering interactive experiences delivered by members of the Cherbourg Aboriginal community.

Ficks Crossing is also an ideal venue for your next sport and active recreation experience.

We plan to cater for groups staying for two nights or more. Our accommodation packages will range from stays of two to five nights, to multiple weeks. We can cater for all of your needs so that you don't have to worry about cooking as well.

Ficks Crossing will also be a top venue for your leadership, learning, team building, sports training camps and other physical activity programs. It is a quality group venue for fun, friendly and safe experiences.

The facilities include:

Affordable, comfortable, group accommodation for up to 66 people, including 4 cabins sleeping 12 people each in bunkhouse style accommodation, 4 rooms sleeping 2 and 10 portable beds in the lower recreation room.
Outdoor Shaded Area seating for 60 people
A Sports Field (150m x 75 m)
A Floodlit Hard Courts for Tennis, Volleyball and Netball
Aquatic Activities- Barambah Creek - Swimming, Canoeing and Kayaking
Seminar Rooms - Fairdale Hall (10m x 5 m) - seats 20
A Dining/ Recreation Hall - upper level (15m x 10 m) - seats 50
Lower two Recreation Rooms - (12m x 8 m) - seats 20 - 30 per room
Amphitheatre / Camp Fire Area
